The surge of violence on the street between Arabs and Jews in Israel’s mixed towns has formed one of the most worrying characteristics of the recent days of crisis. Looting, riots, and physical violence in places like Lod, Acre, Bat Yam, and even Jaffa has left both Jewish and Arab residents’ faith in the power of partnership and shared society badly shaken.
